Applying for the GKS (Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Program) is like embarking on an exciting journey. With the right tools and knowledge, you can easily navigate this process. This guide will walk you through essential steps, from the application form to securing letters of recommendation. Let’s begin this adventure together!

Step 1: Understanding the GKS guidelines

The GKS journey starts with the application guidelines. Take a print out of the entire guidlines document from https://www.studyinkorea.go.kr/ko/scholarship/Gks1Notice.do and read it thoroughly. Use a pen and mark important sections, highlight relevant information and come back to it as and when needed.

Step 2: Choosing the right course and university

Find a course that matches your academic and professional aspirations and a university you can call home for the next 3 years. https://www.studyinkorea.go.kr/ko/university/search.do

Step 3: Getting all necessary documents

Collect all your academic records like degree, transcripts and certificates as well as government id cards.

Step 4: Obtaining Apostilles

Easiest step of all, identify which documents need an apostille stamp and send them to us. We will get them apostilled and send them back to you while you concentrate on your application.

Step 5: Crafting a Stellar Study Plan

An effective study plan showcases your academic objectives and research interests. This document should clearly present your understanding of your field and its relation to the GKS-G program. Know more about it on https://www.lkwu.in/post/writing-study-plan-for-gks

Step 6: Writing a Personal Statement That Shines

Your personal statement lets you express who you are beyond grades. It should reflect your goals, experiences, and motivations for applying. Know more on https://www.lkwu.in/post/writing-an-effective-sop-for-gks-g

Step 7: Securing a Strong Letter of Recommendation

A strong recommendation can significantly strengthen your application. Choose someone who can speak to your academic and personal strengths and tell them about GKS and why will it be helpful in your career.

Step 8: Putting it all together

As soon as the notification for 2025 is released, download the application forms and start filling it up on a computer. Once done, take a print out and sign it.

Step 9: Sending it to the Embassy/University

If you are applying by the Embassy track you need to make 4 sets of all the documents (1 original, 3 photocopies) and post it. For university track only 1 set of documents should be posted directly to the university.
